What We Believe

What We Believe

Historic Christian faith expressed through the life of a United Methodist congregation.

Mount Hope confesses Jesus Christ as Lord, receives the Bible as the trustworthy witness to God’s saving work, and depends on the grace of God made known through worship, prayer, Scripture, service, baptism, and Holy Communion.

God’s grace

We believe God’s grace reaches people before they are ready, meets them in Christ, and continues shaping them through the Holy Spirit.

Scripture and prayer

We listen to Scripture together and respond through prayer, worship, study, and shared discernment.

Faith in action

Belief is not only stated; it is practiced through hospitality, mercy, justice, and everyday faithfulness.

Adults gathered around a table for Bible study and conversation.
Belief is strengthened as people listen, study, and pray together.

How belief shapes our worship

Our worship life is meant to be both reverent and accessible. We sing, pray, hear Scripture, preach Christ, and come to the Lord’s Table because we believe God still meets people through ordinary means of grace.

Questions people often bring

  • Can I attend if I am unsure what I believe? Yes. Many people start there.
  • Do children belong in worship and church life? Yes. We want faith to be shared across generations.
  • Is belief only private? No. We believe faith should shape prayer, relationships, service, and moral life.
